Safety is our first and foremost concern both on and off the water.

For the most part Remote River Expeditions runs trips on calm water rivers which are suitable for all ages and no previous experience is required. The emphasis of most of our journeys is the unique flora, fauna and cultures of the areas we visit.

We use high quality rafts and safety equipment and for trips that do include whitewater all our guides have a minimum of 5 years of whitewater experience. Many of our guides also have advanced medical and swift water rescue training. We always scout large rapids and team members have the option to walk around often providing an excellent photographic opportunity.

'Remoteness' & Communications

On some of our extended expeditions we find ourselves literally 'out in the middle of nowhere' where, in case of emergency, outside assistance may be difficult to obtain.

Pre-trip information as well as a detailed orientation before setting out are steps toward a safe and successful journey. Self reliance, exacting pre-planning and having the utmost respect for where we are and what we may encounter are the keys to avoiding and dealing with potential problems.

We carry a (Iridium 9505) satellite phone on our trips - for emergency use only. Of course, the phone itself doesn't guarantee prompt outside help but it does add a layer of security for the group and gives us more options for gaining assistance. Having this communication link is a help but the most important factor is to foresee and prevent problems before they become problems.
